Lyn Kelly - Costume Designer
Originally from Montreal, I began my career in the fashion industry. After graduating from the Fashion Arts Academy, I designed junior and children’s clothing for the trade. Looking for a new challenge, I discovered the intriguing world of theatrical costuming which took me to Neptune Theatre in Halifax where I worked as a cutter, head of wardrobe and designer.
Invited to the Vancouver Playhouse to supervise the costume department and design “Wings” for the main stage, I relocated to Vancouver.
Arriving in the early eighties was perfect timing to transition to the rapidly growing film industry and I have since worked in every capacity in the costume department.
From early beginnings as set supervisor on the CBC series “Danger Bay” and the feature film “We’re No Angels” to assisting on the feature “Crooked Hearts.”
I have now designed a multitude of shows from small independent features, to large network television series and TV movies, including the recent “Flowers in the Attic” for Lifetime Network.
My career has given me opportunities for a wide range of styles, encompassing historical, fantasy, horror, comedy, contemporary and theatrical.
I was honored to receive both a Gemini and a Leo nomination for my work on the CBC mini-series “Human Cargo.”
